Flight Attendants Protest at International Summit|世界飛安高峰會登場 我爭取加入ICAO

The US Flight Safety Foundation's annual International Flight Safety Summit is being held in Taipei for the first time. According to the foundation, representatives from 37 countries and territories are attending this year, including 350 flight safety professionals. Transportation and Communications Minister Lin Chia-lung gave a speech and talked again about Taiwan's hard work in flight safety. Lin said he hopes the world can see Taiwan's hard work, and Taiwan will continue to try to join the ICAO.

In the European Union, they start the clock at 12 hours before departure. Taiwan's clock starts 10 hours before departure. This is even less than the 11 hours required by the Labor Standards Act.

The Civil Aeronautics Administration's Aircraft Flight Operation Regulations probably rank in the top half of the world. This is to say, we can discuss the routes or airlines that (the unions) feel are substandard.

In response, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications said Taiwan's laws comply with global civil aviation standards but it is willing to review individual routes. Representatives from 138 flight safety organizations in 37 countries and territories are in attendance at the summit. During a speech, Transportation and Communications Minister Lin Chia-lung reiterated Taiwan's determination to join the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Taiwan, a member of the international aviation community, will continue to work closely with all other members to create a serious safety safe sky.

Taiwan is hosting the summit, currently in its 70th year, for the first time. Lin said it is China's loss that it chose not to attend and China is cutting off its nose to spite its face.

桃園市空服員職業工會副祕書長 周聖凱表示:「歐盟在設定休息時間的,標準的時候,他們規定,起飛前要休息12個小時起跳,台灣的規定是只有10個小時,但10個小時這個標準,甚至是比台灣勞動基準法的11個小時還要更差的。」

交通部次長 王國材表示:「民航局所制定的,飛航管理規則AOR,目前在全世界大概是中上,最好是一條一條來討論,就是說到底是那些航線,他們(工會)覺得在AOR上是不夠的,或是航空公司所訂的,這些規矩是不夠的,那我們來討論。」

交通部回應,法規都符合世界民航規範,但還是可以檢討個別航線,而在台北登場的世界飛安高峰會,共有37個國家地區,138個飛安組織單位參加,交通部長林佳龍致詞時,再度向各國表態,台灣爭取加入ICAO的決心。

交通部長 林佳龍表示:「台灣身為國際社會的一員,將持續與世界緊密合作,建立完整飛航安全的天空。」

有70年歷史的"世界飛安高峰會"首度移師台灣,對於中國事前抗議最後未報名參加,交通部長林佳龍直言沒有參加是中國的損失,是"損人不利己"的決定,台灣仍會負起守護區域飛安的責任。
