Do you want to pay bail as soon as possible? Do you want the Legislative Yuan to get you out?
Prosecutors have indicted 12 in the Legislative Yuan corruption and bribery case, including former lawmaker Hsu Yung-ming and current lawmakers Su Chen-ching, Liao Kuo-tung, Chen Chao-ming and Chao Cheng-yu.
Between 2012 and 2020 until they were arrested, the defendants accepted cash and bribes and used the power of their office to do the bidding of the defendant surnamed Lee by attacking, harassing and intimidating civil servants.
In the indictment notice, former Pacific Distribution Investment Co. Chair Lee Heng-lung is accused of bribing Su, Liao, Chen, Hsu and others using Kuo Ke-ming and others as middlemen, and using legal revisions and public hearings to pressure Ministry of Economic Affairs officials into revoking his company's capital increase registration to snatch back the operating rights to SOGO. Prosecutors say Su took the most bribes of NT$25.8 million, followed by Liao with NT$7.9 million.
In addition, (Lee) used public hearings and other methods in his fight for PDIC operating rights and forcibly used international arbitration to maliciously twist and abuse the original intent of the agreement signed between Taiwan and Singapore. He also politicized judicial issues to violate our jurisdiction and force Taiwan into the middle of international disputes.
Lee and "fixer" Ting Fu-hua have made full confessions and turned witness for the prosecution in exchange for lighter sentences. Former lawmaker Mark Chen escaped indictment,
While independent lawmaker Chao Cheng-yu was indicted for his involvement in a related cemetery lobbying case. Prosecutors are seeking a heavy sentence and confiscation of illegal gains.
